Golden beaches, tropical rain forests and glamorous cities. An ancient indigenous history and a young, vibrant culture: welcome to Queensland. Queensland is one of Australia's most attractive places to live and work. Queenslanders share a quality of life that ranks with the best in the world. The people of Queensland enjoy an outdoor lifestyle with world class beaches and waterways, national parks, rainforests and tropical reefs. Our pleasant climate (average summer temperatures of 25 degrees Celsius, average winter temperatures of 15 degrees Celsius) means that Queenslanders enjoy more winter sunshine and warmth than most other Australian states.
Queensland's enviable lifestyle ensures that its current population of over 4 million continues to grow and prosper.
In some instances, when you work in Australia you are eligible for subsidised health care under the Medicare Public Insurance Scheme. The Commonwealth Government has signed Reciprocal Health Care Agreements with Finland, Italy, Malta, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, so citizens of these countries are entitled to Medicare cover.
For more information the website address for Medicare is www.hic.gov.au.
Medicare however does not cover such things as pre-existing conditions and dental so it may be advisable to look at additional health insurance. Also nationalities not covered will need to purchase private health insurance. Some private health insurance companies are included in the following website e.g HBF, NRMA Health Insurance.
